岡本太郎の言葉から学ぶ、AI時代を生き抜くための生き方とは？

岡本 太郎（おかもと たろう、1911年（明治44年）2月26日 – 1996年（平成8年）1月7日）は、日本の芸術家。

AIの開発や利用に対する批判的な意見を持つ人々は、自分自身を職業に縛り付けてしまっているのかもしれない。彼らは、AIが人間に代わって仕事を行うことによって、自分たちの職業が失われる可能性があると不安を感じている。しかし、それは「個人財産、利害損得だけにこだわり、またひたすらにマイホームの無事安全を願う、現代人のケチくささ」ではないだろうか。岡本太郎は、自分自身を突き動かす生命力と情熱を無償で爆発させ、目的を持たずに生きることが大切だと語った。それが真の生命感であり、AIの開発や利用に対して批判的な人々は、その生命感を失っているのかもしれない。

情熱というものは、”何を”なんて条件つきで出てくるもんじゃない、無条件なんだ。

人生うまくやろうなんて、利口ぶった考えは、誰でも考えることで、それは大変卑しい根性だと思う。繰り返して言う。世の中うまくやろうとすると、結局、人の思惑に従い、社会のベルトコンベアーの上に乗せられてしまう。一応世間体もよく、うまくはいくかも知れないが、ほんとうに生きているのではない。流されたままで生きているにすぎない。

「AIの開発や利用に対して批判的な人は卑しい」という主張には賛否両論あるだろうが、私自身は賛同する主張である。

その理由は、自分の知識やスキルを独占して得ることができる地位や財産を守ろうとしている姿勢が卑しいという点にある。AIを批判しているのも、結局は自分の保身である。

自分だけが独占している知識、それで威張ろうなんて卑しい。
「うまくやろう」なんて卑しい根性。血のふき出る身体をひきずって行くのが人生の極意だ

「人生は積み重ねだと誰でも思っているようだ。僕は逆に、積みへらすべきだと思う。財産も知識も、蓄えれば蓄えるほど、かえって人間は自在さを失ってしまう。過去の蓄積にこだわると、いつの間にか堆積物に埋もれて身動きができなくなる。人生に挑み、ほんとうに生きるには、瞬間瞬間に新しく生まれ変わって運命をひらくのだ。それは心身とも無一物、無条件でなければならない。捨てれば捨てるほど、いのちは分厚く、純粋にふくらんでくる。今までの自分なんか、蹴トバシてやる。そのつもりで、ちょうどいい。」

もちろん、AIが人間を超えるようになれば、人間の職業や生活に影響を与えることは避けられないだろう。しかし、それは技術の進歩と共に常にあった問題であり、今回のAIだけが特別なものではない。

AIを開発し、利用することによって、人間はより高度で専門的な仕事を行うことができるようになるだろう。一方で、単純な作業が自動化され、人間がその負担から解放されることも期待できる。

もちろん、AIの開発や利用には問題もある。たとえば、プライバシーや倫理的な問題がある。しかし、これらの問題に対して取り組みを進めることが必要だ。ただ単にAIを批判するだけでは、問題解決にはつながらない。

ぼくがここで問題にしたいのは、人類全体が残るか滅びるかという漠とした遠い想定よりも、今現時点で、人間の一人ひとりはいったいほんとうに生きているだろうかということだ。
ほんとうに生きがいをもって、瞬間瞬間に自分を開いて生きているかどうか。
システムのベルトコンベアーに乗せられ、己を失って、ただ惰性的に生活を続けていというのなら、本質的に生きているとは言えない。

人間は、自分自身を突き飛ばし、新しい可能性を求める生き物であるべきだ。AIの進歩がもたらす変化に対して恐怖を感じるのは当然のことかもしれない。しかし、進歩を阻むことは、自分たち自身の未来を奪ってしまうことになる。

自分たちが持っている知識やスキルを守り、他者から奪われることを恐れている人々が、AIに対して批判的なのは理解できる。しかし、そんな卑しい姿勢でしか物事を見ることができないのであれば、私たちは本当に進歩しているとは言えないだろう。

AIによって多くの職業が自動化されることは事実だが、その一方で新しい職業や産業も生まれる可能性があることもまた事実だ。

また、AIによって自動化されることによって、人間はより多くの時間やエネルギーを自己実現や人間関係の構築など、より価値のあることに費やすことができるようになるかもしれない。そういった可能性も考えるべきである。

AIの開発や利用に対して批判的な人々は、自分の保身に走り、進歩を阻むことによって、自分たち自身の未来を損なっているのではないだろうか。人間は自らの可能性を広げるために、AIと共に進化していくことが必要だと考える。

全身全霊が宇宙に向かって無条件にパーッと開くこと。それが「爆発」だ。人生は本来、瞬間瞬間に、無償、無目的に爆発しつづけるべきだ。いのちのほんとうの在り方だ。

AIがもたらす変化に対して恐怖を感じるのは当然のことかもしれないが、技術の進歩に逆らうことはできない。進歩を受け入れ、それに合わせて自らも進化することが求められるのである。今回の技術の進歩は、近代社会で義務付けられていた「生産性のために歯車のようにグルグルまわって働く」という状態からの開放である。

近代社会が、生産力の拡大とともにますます分化され、社会的生産がかならずしも自分の本来の創造欲とは一致しない。逆に、ただ生活のために義務づけられて、本意、不本意にかかわらず、ひとつの機械のパーツ、歯車のように、目的を見失いながら、ただグルグルまわって働かなければばらない。一日のながい時間を一定の単一な仕事に制約されている。
　生産のために働きつづけながら、しかし、創造欲は逆におさえつけられている。そういう皮肉な状態だ。

生きるためにみんな生産する。つまり仕事をするわけだが、充実していなければほんとうの仕事とはいえない。逆にレクリエーションについてもおなじことがいえる。遊ぶにしても、たのしむにしても、ほんとうにたのしめた、味わえたという全身的な充実感、生きがいの手ごたえがなければ、ほんとうの意味のレクリエーション、つまりエネルギーの蓄積、再生産としてのレクリエーションは成り立たない。

自分を認めさせようとか、この社会の中で自分がどういう役割を果たせるんだろうとか、色々状況を考えたり、成果を計算したり、そういうことで自分を貫こうとしても無意味な袋小路に入ってしまう

AIの開発や利用に対して批判的な人々は、自分自身を閉じ込めることで、進歩と可能性を放棄してしまっている。技術の進歩に対して積極的な姿勢を持ち、自らも進化していくことが、今後の人間の未来を切り拓くために必要なのである。

ドラえもんをはじめ、AIという存在に慣れ親しんできた日本人は、これからの時代と相性が良い。日本人にとってこれは大きなチャンスである。

遺産が推進力になるよりも、むしろ呪縛として働いている日本では、これをさかさにひっくり返してしぼりあげていくという、大きな外科的治療が必要だ。

価値が逆転する祭りの時代に居合わせたことに感謝。

社会が発達し、生産と消費の周期が人間生活を支配しはじめる。そして道徳観では生産と蓄積が善であり、正しいかのように信じているが、しかしある瞬間、価値は逆転して猛烈な消費が生きがいとして行われる。
「祭り」だ。このとき人間は日常の卑小な枠を超えて、絶対、つまり宇宙と結びつくのである。
